Crystal's Hospital Blog

July 31, 2009

Good evening everyone, as you can see, I have created a blog.......the reason i have done this is mainly to keep my friends and family informed on my condition as well as the condition of the baby, and also to keep my sanity so that i do not go crazy while here in the hospital for what could possibly 3 months.

OK where do I begin......
Most of you reading this blog know that I am expecting a little boy probably around Nov 2, well in my previous pregnancies I have had lots and lots of problems, for one i have a blood clotting disorder, i also have had and looks like am having again a condition called preeclampsia which basically is extremely high blood pressure that can cause very serious problems with you and your unborn baby. We lost our little girl Ella-Grace on May 6, 2007 due to stillborn which was a result of the preeclampsia as well as the blood clotting disorder. Well so far through out this pregnancy we haven't had much of any problems, I have had to take a blood thinner shot twice a day but other than that it has been uneventful.......Well Wednesday of this week, I was at home by myself and noticed I started feeling flushed, and had some blurred vision, upon checking my blood pressure i found it to be high, so after laying down it went down quite a bit, well as soon as i would get back up the pressure would go right back up, this happens about 5 or 6 times so i called my doctor who wanted me to come to Nashville to see him(by the way if you didn't know we are seeing a high risk obgyn in Nashville b/c they are better equipped with their NICU here for preterm babies, a luxury we didn't have when we had problems during our last pregnancy) So anyway he advised me to come to labor and delivery to be monitored. Upon arriving they monitored my blood pressure, did some lab work and decided that it appeared i was starting to develop the preeclampsia like before and so they admitted me and i was told to make myself at home b/c due to my high risk history and the problems that were arising i would probably not be going home until the baby was born.....so here i am at baptist hospital in Nashville tn for who knows how long, they have me on complete bed rest with bathroom privileges only. They did an ultrasound on Thursday morning and the baby looked great, he is very active and is growing like he should be and so the goal is this, keep the bun in the oven as long as possible......so as long as i keep my blood pressure down and he continues to do well we are good, the Dr's went on and gave me two separate injections that you receive 24 hours apart called beta-methasone, this drug is a steroid that helps to mature the babies lung tissue so that in case of an emergency and the baby needed to be delivered early, he would have some added help for survival. So that is what we know right now and I will up date as soon as we know more......Thanks to all for your prayers, call, help and support
